Further about Consequentialist Theories

One particular form of this theory, utilitarianism, sees good defined the maximization of good consequences – the greatest good only when we have fully understood the context. This is also known as teleological approach.

The consequentialist approach ignores the importance of intention and motive in any ethical judgment. It also runs the danger of the ends justifying any means and even of denying the rights of minorities. In deciding between different options there has to be some understanding of what constitutes well in the first place.
